Myth: “Psoriasis is just a cosmetic problem.”

Fact: Although psoriasis affects the skin, it is actually a long term condition as a result of an abnormal immune system that results in the rapid growth of skin cells.  The presence of psoriasis can be associated with depression, obesity, liver disease, diabetes, or heart disease.  In addition, living with psoriasis can have emotional, social, and psychological effects.
